Age: 54

Background: “I design sewing patterns for critters that I create and they are not stuffed animals for toys, or clothes. I do stuffed critters for decorative purposes. I have been doing art for a long time and only recently got back into sewing. I have been in the craft business since 1989 and did ceramics before I did sewing. I stopped ceramics because the molds were too heavy to lift. People come to me at craft shows, asking for my original designs. I do mainly shows here in Pahrump but also travel to Boulder City.”

First job: “At 9, I cleaned hair brushes and then as a teen was a maid at a hotel.”

Personal: “I have a pool to relax in and I enjoy walking my dog, but I design patterns to relax.”

Business climate: “I have a niche product. I will do patterns for my critters and then I paint faces on the friendly characters. What I do is unique. I also do a nice quality glass Christmas ornament. I would like to build up a steady business in Pahrump. People can come see my designs at the Pins and Needles Quilt Show on Friday and Saturday at Nevada Treasure RV from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.”
