Driver runs stop sign, collides with second vehicle, then wall

At least three people were transported to Desert View Hospital following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Calvada Boulevard and Red Rock Drive Wednesday afternoon.

A resident, outside his home doing yard work said he actually saw the collision involving a white Dodge pickup and a black Hyundai sedan, just before 2:30 p.m. in the normally quiet neighborhood teeming with large custom homes.

“The white pickup truck ran the stop sign and hit the small black car,” he said. “The lady driving the black car asked me to call 911. Every once in a while you will hear people skidding their tires to avoid blowing the stop sign. There was a big one here a couple of years back and they had to bring in helicopters because it was so serious.”

Following the impact, the pickup truck careened into a cinderblock wall at the intersection, causing significant damage to the truck and the wall.

Among those transported were a woman and a child in the Hyundai, along with the driver of the pickup truck.

All are expected to recover from their injuries.
