Inaugural Spring Fling gets underway in Pahrump

Though the turnout among vendors was light this past weekend, the founder of Pahrump’s Spring Fling considered the first-time event successful.

The inaugural event, tied to the Pahrump Small Business Networking Alliance, took place at 4719 Vicki Ann Road on Saturday and Sunday.

“This is our very first event and we seem to be doing OK,” said Theresa Vail. “We also posted it on Facebook where we are hoping that attracts more attention from local residents. Unfortunately, we had a couple of no-shows among the vendors but we still want people come out here and shop as well as embracing some of our small businesses we have here in the valley.”

At present, the alliance is home to roughly 15 individuals with small businesses in the community.

Vail said their main priority is giving back to the town.

“We are all about the community, which means giving back to nonprofit agencies and helping each other grow our businesses with referrals and such,” Vail said. “We also want to keep money in Pahrump because it’s important to keep money within your own community. We had about eight vendors on Saturday. I was hoping for a little more, but I think we kind of put the word out at the last minute. We look forward to doing much better next time.”

Additionally, the alliance hosts regular meetings each month at Back to Roots, a local business at 2341 Postal Road.

The first meeting is scheduled for next month.

“It will take place on April 5th and 19th beginning at 4 p.m.,” Vail said. “We ask those who attend to bring their business cards. We also ask that attendees agree with what we are all about, because that is pretty much what an alliance means.”
