COPS: Two arrested following high-speed motorcycle chase

Two people were arrested last week after they allegedly refused to pull over on their motorcycle, leading Nye County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives on a three-mile chase that reached speeds of up to 70 mph.

According to a declaration of arrest in the case, on March 19 at approximately 7:30 p.m. a detective said he observed a white and yellow 1990 Suzuki DR 250 with two riders leave a residence in the area of Windsong Lane and Linda Street. The bike allegedly had no registration and the driver, later identified as Shawn DeShaw, allegedly failed to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Windsong Lane and David Street. Additionally, the passenger, later identified as Michelle Fasking, was not wearing a helmet.

When the officer attempted to pull the pair over for the traffic infractions, they allegedly sped up, taking off northbound on David Street.

The detective followed, noting the motorcycle failed to stop at yet another intersection and reached speeds of around 70 mph in a 35 mph zone near Linda and Irene streets.

The riders then allegedly took off into the desert in that area, where several detectives and deputies were eventually able to corner them between three patrol cars near Linada Street and Mesquite Avenue.

As the motorcycle came to a stop, another detective on scene was able to exit his vehicle and push the bike over, ending the pursuit without injury to the suspects.

DeShaw and Fasking were subsequently placed under arrest for conspiracy to resist a public officer.

An arrest report noted it did not appear at any time during the chase that Fasking had attempted to get off of the bike. Additionally, when police stopped the pair, they noticed the rear taillights had been pulled out, which police said was likely Fasking’s doing based on where she was sitting on the bike.

DeShaw was additionally arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license, motorcycle license required, unregistered vehicle, insurance required, motorcycle passenger violation, motorcycle headlamp violation, motorcycle taillight violation, motorcycle turn signal violation, basic speed 31-40 mph over posted speed, four counts of fail to yield at stop sign, reckless driving with disregard for safety of person or property, operating an unsafe vehicle and failing to stop on signal of peace officer endangering death or bodily harm.

Fasking was also arrested for a motorcycle headgear violation.

COPS: Two arrested for burglary

Police took a man and woman into custody last week after witnesses said they saw the man allegedly attempting to steal items from a shed on their neighbor’s property and the female break into an RV there.

Just before 11 a.m. on March 21, a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 6300 block of Vicki Ann Road for a report of a theft in progress.

When he arrived on scene, two witnesses allegedly stated around 1 a.m. that morning they had seen a man on the property digging around in a shed with several boxes set out on the ground.

When they confronted the man, later identified as Joseph Little, they told the officer he took off running. According to a declaration of arrest in the case, they did not immediately report the activity to police because they wanted to wait for the homeowner to return home.

Then around 10:30 a.m. the homeowner and the two witnesses said they went outside to check on the shed, when they noticed a window to their RV had been popped out.

They said a female, later identified as Roxianne Little, then exited the RV and when they attempted to question her about what she was doing there, she just walked away.

When the officer made contact with the suspects, he stated they allegedly gave conflicting statements and denied being on the Vicki Ann property. When the deputy compared shoe prints found at the scene to the suspects’ shoes, however, he noted in their arrest report there were several full shoe prints of the man’s on the property and a partial of the female’s.

Both Roxianne and Joseph were taken into custody for destruction of private property and burglary and transported to the Nye County Detention Center to be booked into custody.
