Area schools to host Christmas concerts

Faculty and staff at Hafen Elementary School are welcoming families to their annual Winter Wonderland holiday party tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event, sponsored by the parent teacher organization, will include games, food and pictures with Santa Claus.

Additionally, the school’s annual Christmas concert is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 15, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Hafen Elementary is located at 7120 South Hafen Ranch Road.

Meanwhile, Rosemary Clarke Middle School is holding their annual holiday concert on Thursday, Dec. 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The performance includes holiday music by the choir and the band.

Officials with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension are inviting the community out to their “Cookies with Santa” event on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Master Gardener Cherry McCormick said she’s hoping for a large turnout.

“We hope people will come out and enjoy holiday cookies and hot chocolate or tea with Santa and Mrs. Claus,” she said. “It will be held in the Demonstration Garden and it’s free to the public. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through the luminary Garden and there will be carolers welcoming attendees with holiday tunes in the garden.”
