Be ‘Proactive’ about pest control
Part of Pahrump’s community feel are the many family-owned and operated businesses here, which support each other, and use good service and word-of-mouth advertising as an asset.
One small business in operation for about one year is Proactive Pest Control, owned and operated by Neil and Maxine Levy.
The business is operated out of their home on North David Street and Maxine said it’s not unusual for them to get late-night and early-morning calls for service.
“We have actual service hours from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday,” she said. “But we always answer the phone.”
She said the company has a motto — “Neighbors Serving Neighbors.” “It’s one of the things setting us apart from other pest control companies. We treat you and your property like we would treat our own.”
Proactice Pest Control audio commercials always finish with “Working to make Pahrump bug free — six little legs at a time.”
Neil said the couple has lived here since 2008. “I used to work for another pest control company here. I have three years experience in the business and this being our community, we give good service.”
He said the company prides itself for being dependable, on time and working Saturdays when other service companies don’t.
Proactive Pest Control is a member of the local chamber and Neil said, “We work here and live here, so we give back to the community. Some of the people listed in the phone book actually come from Vegas.”
The company offers perimeter pest control and offers what Maxine refers to as “double barrier” protection.
“We not only spray the exterior but we treat edges of outdoor living spaces and places where bugs like to enter.”
Proactive doesn’t ask you to sign a monthly contract and there is no additional charge for the initial visit.
Other treatment areas include garages, sheds, well houses, electrical boxes and water metering boxes. Their services are available for residential, commercial and multi-unit housing.
Maxine said the company removes spider webs every time they treat your property. “Spiders not only build houses, but the also will eat their web as nourishment. If we eliminate their house and take away a source of food, we help eliminate the spider population.” They aso deal with scorpions and sun spiders.
She said if you have problems with ants, roaches and other pests re-entering your property through unsealed places like plumbing or electrical that runs from the outdoors to inside, they will treat the property but also leave gel baits in problem areas to control insect re-population.
You will get a reminder call from Proactive the day before they visit as well.
