Beatty Clinic introduces another healthcare provider

Dr. Michael Reiner introduced an additional health care provider for the Beatty Clinic at the Beatty Town Advisory Board meeting June 27.

Registered nurse Shannon Brecik, whom Reiner said he had worked with for about 12 years, is awaiting the processing of her nurse practitioner license, and will join the rotation with Dr. Reiner and Dr. Michael Jonak at the Beatty Clinic.

Reiner said that Brecik had expressed a desire to work in a small setting. He said he anticipates her to eventually also be seeing patients in Goldfield and Tonopah.

Aside from the days when Dr. Reiner and Dr. Michael Jonak are at the Beatty Clinic, they are using telemedicine through the internet to see patients. He said they are working on how to best work out the scheduling of telemedicine appointments with their schedules in Pahrump.

The doctor said that they have not yet completed setting up the pharmacy in the Beatty Clinic because the software required costs of $4,800, and they had run out of money for it.

The board also heard a progress report on the Beatty Senior Center from Marty Campbell.

Campbell thanked the board for funding the mailing of a request for donations. He said they had also contacted five additional businesses for donations. He said they had received a couple of donations - $500 from JT3, and $4,000 from Barrick Gold. The Barrick donation was given as a one-time grant to help with the center’s transition to 501C3 nonprofit status.

Campbell also presented the board with a draft of the center’s revised bylaws and thanked town secretary Carrie Radomski for her help. He also thanked the board members who had turned out for bingo night.

The board approved reimbursement to the Beatty Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $3,500 for improvements made in accordance with the board’s highway frontage beautification program.
