Man arrested on alleged identity fraud charges

A Pahrump man was arrested last week on various charges related to identity theft.

Damon Port was taken into custody Feb. 1 by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and charged with preliminary counts of possessing credit card information without consent and possession of stolen property.

On Jan. 21 sheriff’s deputies carried out a search warrant on a vehicle belonging to Chris Guoin at a residence on the 100 block of West McMurray Drive.

Guoin and Malinda Carson were arrested in January. Guoin was wanted by the FBI, while Carson was arrested on various charges relating to identity theft.

Inside the vehicle police located several documents and pieces of mail belonging to various people, some being victims of identify theft and recent burglaries in Pahrump, according to the sheriff’s office.

A blue duffle bag, which had items that proved Port was the owner of the bag, contained multiple pieces of identifying documents and mail detrimental to the financial health of those individuals.

The documents included bank statements, credit card information, social security cards, driver’s licenses, credit card numbers and CVV numbers and more, of 27 alleged victims, according to the arrest report.

There was a specific folder reading “Save for Minnie” which the sheriff’s office said tied Port to Carson, as they both said they were best friends.

Port mentioned he didn’t want to get caught up in “Minnie’s” business, referring to Carson as “Minnie,” according to the arrest report.

Port was arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center on the trio of charges where he is being held on $150,000 bond.

Woman arrested on multiple preliminary drug charges

A Pahrump woman was arrested last month on various drug-related charges.

Angela Warm was taken into custody on Jan. 29 by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and charged with possession with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

On Jan. 29, sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a white SUV driving in oncoming traffic lanes and not being able to maintain speed.

The vehicle was eventually pulled over on westbound Gamebird Road, where a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver was identified as Warm and the deputy noted her speech was slurred, her eyelids were noticeably droopy and her eyes were red.

As Warm was exiting the vehicle at the deputy’s request, the deputy noticed a straw with black electrical tape around it, which he noted was commonly used to smoke heroin.

After gaining Warm’s consent, the deputy searched her belongings and vehicle and discovered several pieces of tin foil with a black substance and black residue on them, which the deputy noted to be consistent with heroin.

Additionally, a glass pipe with what the deputy suspected to be methamphetamine residue on it was discovered in the vehicle.

Warm was placed under arrest and during the search of her person, the deputy discovered a white cylinder located just above her crotch area, the arrest report stated.

The cylinder contained five packages total in various sizes, which all contained a black substance which the deputy identified as heroin.

Warm was transported to the Nye County Detention Center on the various charges and was being held on $30,000 bond.

The black substance was tested at the detention center and it tested presumptive positive for heroin, THC and methamphetamine.
