Discount store opens its doors

Most have us have been to a service station or a restaurant where they have had a convenience store or a gift shop attached to it.

Now you can add a different type of store to the list while you get your car fixed.

The owners of Top Notch Repairs, Marcel and Valerie, have teamed up with Sheila and Vern Geesa to introduce Top Notch Distribution. This new store is attached to the Top Notch auto garage and is a store dealing in all kinds of new items, from clothes to furniture and even tools. According to Top Notch Repairs, this partnership has been in the making for about a year now. This new store is located at 1060 Third St.

The Geesas have 60 years of combined retail experience and decided to go into this line of work after seeing a need for it in town.

“We looked around Pahrump and I saw a niche for this,” Sheila Geesa said. “People like to save a buck in town.”

The owners did some homework and found that Pahrump shoppers had a lot of options when it came to buying used items. But when it came to buying discounted or wholesale new items, there just weren’t that many places in town.

“There was one business, but it just went out of business,” Sheila Geesa said. “We buy all new items in lots. It’s the same thing the business ‘Big Lots’ does. The retailers will have these auctions and we will go to them and bid on them.”

Sheila Geesa added that the town has a lot of teens and adults that are tired of shopping for clothing and shoes at Walmart.

“The town really has no other options for people to buy clothing and shoes in town,” Sheila Geesa said.

Vern Geesa said people can get things at a discount if they are willing to wait a bit.

“We are like Big 5 and are one to two seasons behind the styles,” he said.

The Geesas are confident they can get things right with what customers want because Sheila Geesa’s grandparents ran a family retail business.

“I basically worked retail growing up,” she said.

The store has limited space because it is attached to Top Notch Repairs, but if customers come in and don’t see what they want they can go to the Geesas and they will check their warehouse for it.

“People can even ask us and we will let them go to the warehouse,” Sheila Geesa said.
