Windsor’s Thrift Store, 1481 Highway 372, 775-727-4999

Age: 49

Background: “I have been in business for 15 years on my own. I originally owned a store in Las Vegas, but after three years I moved my store out to Pahrump. I was looking for that small-town feel and found it out here. When I originally came out here, business was done on a handshake. I also found it was slower paced out here. This was before Home Depot and a lot of people needed thrift stores.”

Years in Business: “We have been in business out here for the past 12 years.”

Personal: “I love to golf when I can to relax. Believe it or not, I also like to go yard saling still just to see if I can get a bargain.”

First job: “I worked 20 years ago as a paint contractor. I still remember being stuck in traffic in California for 4-5 hours.”

Business Climate: “There weren’t that many thrift stores out here when I first came here. Things have changed since then but one thing has not, and that’s the people. They are still friendly and I love the people out here. It may be tough to make it as a thrift store but people keep you going out here. I still see a lot of familiar faces.”
