Man arrested after crashing truck into business
A man was arrested for driving under the influence Saturday after he allegedly crashed his truck into a business property near Highway 372 and Linda Street.
Troy Bromewyn Ray, 50, was arrested for DUI, resisting a peace officer and proof of insurance required after Nye County Sheriff’s deputies and Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Services were dispatched to the area around 11 p.m. for a report of a male slumped over in a white Dodge truck, bleeding from the head.
According to a police report, when a deputy arrived on scene he observed a vehicle matching that description involved in an accident in the CMA work yard.
When the officer made contact with Ray, he noted the man’s speech was slow, slurred and mumbled and that Ray appeared to be confused.
As Ray got out of the truck, police said he was unsteady on his feet and had to lean on the vehicle to stop himself from falling over.
When asked how much he had to drink that evening, Ray’s response was allegedly incomprehensible.
A witness at the scene reportedly told police Ray appeared to lose control of his vehicle while traveling quickly through the area.
When medics assessed Ray for injuries, they allegedly informed the investigating officer that Ray appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. A police report further noted both medics and deputies could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from Ray’s person.
As officers attempted to place Ray under arrest for DUI but he allegedly tried to pull his left arm away from them and ignored their commands. Ray was finally placed under arrest and prepared to be transported to the local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A warrant was obtained to draw Ray’s blood as evidence. Once he was finished being treated he was booked into custody at the Nye County Detention Center.
As of Monday afternoon Ray was no longer in custody.
