Man charged with sexual assault of 6-year-old girl

Michael Roger Henderson, 39, of Pahrump was jailed on Friday and charged with sexual assault with a child under the age of 14, child sexual abuse, and lewdness with a minor child under the age of 14.

On Monday, Justice Court judge Ron Kent set a $300,000 bail for Henderson.

“These allegations are pretty horrific,” Nye County Assistant District Attorney Daniel Young said in court. “Plus, there were some admissions made to law enforcement regarding such charges. I do think bail is appropriate.”

Henderson is scheduled for an arraignment in justice court on March 9 at 4 p.m.

Detectives with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation regarding allegations of the sexual assault of a child that allegedly involved Henderson.

According to a police press release, a 6-year-old child allegedly claimed that Henderson had sexually assaulted her in his home on or about Feb. 13. Detectives learned that Henderson is a friend of the child’s parents.

Detectives subsequently interviewed Henderson and he reportedly admitted to the allegations.

Henderson was subsequently arrested and booked into the Nye County Detention Center.

Henderson is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning.

Detectives are following several leads and the investigation is still ongoing. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging anyone with information pertaining to this case to contact them at 775-751-7000 or sending a confidential email to ncso_detectives@co.nye.nv.us to the attention of Detective Michael Eisenloffel.
