Man ID’d in Monday hit-and-run fatality

The ex-girlfriend of a man killed along a valley roadway is pleading for the public’s help in finding the driver of the vehicle that struck him early Monday morning.

The victim, identified as Bryan Ferguson, 42, was found lying in the roadway along the 700 block of South Leslie by Nye County Sheriff’s deputies.

Amy Bailey is the mother of Ferguson’s 10 year-old son.

The couple had been together for roughly nine years before they broke off their relationship while she retained custody of the child.

Speaking from Katy, Texas on Thursday, Bailey said she wants to appeal to the Pahrump community to help authorities find the driver who was behind the wheel that morning.

“I don’t know where he was going or where he was coming from and that’s what I’m trying to find out. I only know that he was in Pahrump and it happened at 2:44 a.m., according to the detective. That is all I know right now,” she said.

Bailey said her ex-boyfriend found himself going through a “rough patch” for the past several years.

She noted that Ferguson did not have any surviving family members at the time of his death.

“Bryan had no blood family members except for his son and his half-brother that he has not spoken to in 10 years. Both of his parents died and he has no living relatives. We were together for nine years and I have his son. He was homeless and I’m afraid this is going to get swept under the rug and I don’t want that. I want to find out what happened. The only clues the detective said he has was an imprint of the vehicle on Bryan’s body,” she said.

Additionally, Bailey said her ex-boyfriend would often just wander from one locale to another as he had for the past several years.

“He was not employed and he just kind of went from friend to friend. He did have a couple of best friends. One of them is trying to make funeral arrangements for him,” she said.

The last time Bailey spoke to Ferguson was roughly four months ago.

She and Ferguson visited Pahrump about six years ago together.

Bailey spoke about a local woman who may have been the last person to see Ferguson alive at a residence not far from the hit-and-run scene.

“The detectives won’t disclose the name of the person who lived at the house and associated with Bryan. They lived two blocks from where he was killed. The girl called police and said it was odd for Bryan not to show back up. I’ll say this. I know Bryan and it is not odd for him to leave and not show back up for days or even weeks at a time. It is not odd for him at all. The fact that someone called police and told them that Bryan was missing is odd. I don’t know if they accidentally hit him or he jumped out of the car and they accidentally ran over him. I don’t know. My thoughts right now are, it was somebody he knew,” she said.

Investigators have not released any additional details about the hit-and-run.
