Man wanted for attempted murder arrested in Illinois

A Pahrump man was arrested over the weekend and charged with various preliminary counts after an incident that left the victim in critical condition last month.

Jeffrey Todd Jones, 49, was taken into custody by authorities in Lincoln, Illinois Saturday and charged with attempted murder, mayhem and battery with the intent to kill for the incident that took place on Aug. 30.

Jones was discovered to have relocated to Lincoln City and a collaborated effort between the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln City Police and the U.S. Marshall’s Tactical Operations division led to his arrest.

On Aug. 30, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence after several reports came in of a 55-year-old man being unconscious on the floor.

The victim was found in critical condition by deputies and members of Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue. The investigation revealed the man was victim to an extreme physical altercation, the arrest report stated.

Due to his medical condition, the victim was flown by Mercy Air to a Las Vegas hospital to be treated for his injuries.

After his capture by the Lincoln City Police Department Saturday, Jones is likely to be extradited back to Nye County next week.

The victim remains in the hospital as a result of the alleged attack.
