My Paralegal closing office space, selling furniture
Longtime Pahrump business, My Paralegal, is closing its office space this weekend and they are looking to unload their office furniture before the conclusion of the week.
Office items, from chairs to desks to shelving units, and even some sports memorabilia, will be for sale in their two-day sale running on Friday and Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day at their soon-to-be-former office site located at 361 S. Frontage Road, Suite 4.
Robert Pilkington, owner of My Paralegal, explained that the business is moving to a strictly mobile service, so their office furniture is selling for pennies on the dollar, as they will no longer need the items once their office is closed.
Everything is pretty well priced, so much so that some of the pieces have already sold, Pilkington said.
With new owners taking over the complex and raising rates where My Paralegal was located, Pilkington and his wife thought it was time to move in a different direction with the business.
When our lease was up and our rent went up, we almost decided to quit, Pilkington said. Im not really able to work, my wife does almost everything. I prepare the documents. Instead of quitting, we decided to go mobile.
To keep previous clientele intact and to not confuse those who might have seen My Paralegal in the past, the company will keep its same phone number as they transition into a structureless business.
Now, instead of them coming to meet us at the booking, we will set up appointments over the phone and go meet with them at their house, or basically anywhere they want to meet, he said.
Pilkington explained that if he had taken on the heightened rent costs then he would have had to pass that down to his customers and that wasnt an option.
It will not only make it more convenient for our clients, it is also cheaper, he said. If I would have stayed in the building doing it, my prices would be so high, I would be comparable in price to an attorney then, and that just didnt make sense, he said.
Pilkington said that with the shift to mobile business, My Paralegal, which handles various legal matters from grant bargain sale deeds, general probate, divorce and custody matters among others, wont see much change in its day-to-day operations, aside from traveling to customers.
Everything is going to be the same, we have a mobile notary, weve always had a mobile notary. My wife always went to clients and she will continue to do so, Pilkington said. Were just not going to have the stick and brick mortar building anymore.
