Second Missionary Baptist’s 3-day revival returns

Pahrump's Second Missionary Baptist Church has scheduled its 2nd annual three-day community revival beginning tonight at 6 p.m., at their 3651 S. Homestead Road location.

Rev. Daniel Collins said the event is geared toward youth living in the Pahrump Valley.

"Our mindset is growing a church," he said. "We believe our youth is our tomorrow, and we want to train the child in a way that he or she should go and not stray away from it. As we do so, we would also like to provide maturity and spiritual guidance and contribute to those living in the Pahrump Valley."

As a community event, Collins said he wants to bring a sense of what he referred to as "oneness," while carrying out the 53-member church's mission.

He enlisted the help of a Las Vegas pastor to help bring the message to the masses.

"This is open for the entire community and it will run for approximately two hours on Friday and Saturday starting at 6 p.m.," he said. "On Sunday, we will start at 11:15 a.m. till about 1 or 1:30. We have a great 26-year-old pastor, Joseph Mannaway from Las Vegas, who knows how to reach the younger generations. This is our second community revival."
