Ted Cruz to campaign in Pahrump on Sunday

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz will visit Pahrump on Sunday, according to an operative for the campaign.

The Republican will hold a rally at Draft Pick Sports Bars, 1101 S. Highway 160. Doors open at 2 p.m. with the event scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m. lasting until 4:30 p.m.

People planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pahrump-rally-with-ted-cruz-tickets-21593645174

The visit comes two days before the Republican caucus in Nevada.

Cruz is a junior U.S. senator for Texas seeking the Republican nomination for president. After winning the caucus in Iowa, he finished third in the New Hampshire primary.

His wife, Heidi Cruz, visited Pahrump on Sept. 14 in support of her husband.

Cruz is the highest-profile Republican candidate to visit Pahrump this election cycle. Former candidate Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky, visited the Bob Ruud Center on Oct. 28, and Ben Carson stumped at the Pahrump Nugget on Nov. 23.
