Thursday’s high will reach 97 degrees; clear night perfect for Perseid Meteor shower

Thursday will be sunny with a high temperature near 97 degrees. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph is expected through the afternoon.

Tonight will be clear, with a low around 70 degrees. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

The clear skies will offer a perfect view for tonight’s Perseid Meteor shower. The peak time to view the meteors flying across the sky will be between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday morning.

This year’s shower will see an outburst with rates double the normal levels, according to NASA. During the peak hours up to 200 meteors are expected to be seen per hour.
