CASA thanks community for holiday spirit

On behalf of the children we serve, we would like to thank the amazing community of Pahrump for their holiday spirit in helping to make the foster children’s Christmas party the success that it was.

We especially appreciate the Rotary Club for their angel tree donation program which enabled every child to receive a gift or gift card. Our thanks also to Winder Farms, who donated the pizza, cookies and beverages. The Pahrump Arts Council donated books and the Conservative Men’s Club donated toys and games. Don and Fran Rust donated a gift and Lt. Alvin Jones, retired veteran who resides in the Nevada State Veteran’s Home in Boulder City gave a monetary gift which was hand-delivered by Butch Harper. Desert Church of Christ donated gift wrap, ribbons and prizes for the games in which the children participated as well as a monetary donation. Other monetary donations came in from Charlize Butler, Sue Frye and the Valley Cruisers. We’d like to thank our wonderful and amazing emcee Ski Censki who always makes everything fun. Thanks to Jennifer Lowery and Donna Smith for making the elf hat and “boots” and a giant thank you to the CASA volunteers and the DCFS staff and case workers for their gift wrapping expertise and for their assistance at the event.

Finally our deepest appreciation to Nye Communities Coalition for allowing us the use of the Activities Center and to their staff for the set-up and clean-up. Thank you one and all! It takes a village.

Michael Cason, Manager Division of Child and Family Services

Hope all Nye County residents are going to enjoy your gift from the BOCC. You say, “what gift?” Your stocking contained the ever-not-desirable solar fields.

Basically, what they are doing is taking away what we have saved for the winter months and not compensating us for what they have taken from us.
