Fire causes trouble at Wheeler Well

Efforts to fight the wildfire which raged for days in the mountains east of Pahrump have created a problem for the wildlife, including at least two herds of wild mustangs.

Death Valley floods, roads closed

Death Valley, Calif. — Heavy rainstorms that crossed the region over the July 28 weekend have forced the closure of several Death Valley National Park roads due to flood damage. The following roads are closed and will remain closed until repairs can be made:

Nevada veteran recognized for service

Caleb Harris was recognized as Nevada’s July Veteran of the Month during a presentation at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Thursday, July 26.

The great antelope hunt

The anticipated letter from the Nevada Department of Wildlife arrived. Could it be notification of a successful tag or more likely another unsuccessful draw letter? Opening it the words jumped out; “successful draw for an antelope.” The other animals on the list were followed by that word beginning with “un.”
