Virginia Weir pitching in Cedar City. The Trojan Pride played 3 “friendlies” in Cedar City, Utah on July 23rd. They came out on top of the round robin with three wins. The first game was played against Dixie from St. George, Utah. The Pride won 6-2. Virginia Weir got the win after pitching three scoreless innings. Destany Ivy belted a triple in the first inning to give the Pride a 4-0 lead after three singles by Jackie Stobbe, Kathy Niles and Leeanne Kaiwi. The Pride played Extreme Heat and won 5-2. Jackie Stobbe gets a hit in Cedar City. The third game was against the Blast of Las Vegas. The Pride won 10-6. Leeanne Kaiwi belted a giant home run in the first to put the Pride up by three. The Pride finished the game with a win. The Pride are playing their final games of the summer season this Saturday evening at Petrack Park. Special to the Pahrump Valley Times

AYSO soccer camp is Aug. 8-Aug. 12, from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m., for ages 4-14, at Ian Deutch Park.

The camp is hosted by AYSO and UK International Soccer. The cost is $115 and if you need more info, please call Ginny Berquist at 775-513-1929.

Hot sports movie of the week

If you love a good football movie, see “My All American” which is the story of Freddie Steinmark, a safety for the University of Texas, the year they won the national title in 1969. The movie will move you to tears.

Athletic physicals by Affiliated Chiropractic, at 2250 E. Postal Road, will be on July 30 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. CASH only and cost is $20 for PVHS and RCMS students.

For Pop Warner, the physicals are $10. There will be free hot dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pahrump local teen Zackery Wilson is quickly becoming one of Nevada’s top Brazilian jiu-jitsu prospects. The 18-year-old blue belt has medaled in every tournament this season and has climbed into the IBJJF’s top 25 lightweight No-Gi rankings.
