Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: March 9 – March 13. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — beef stew, cornbread, ice cream soup;

Tuesday — chicken cordon bleu, parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, fruit cup, soup;

Wednesday — ham steak, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, cookies, soup;

Thursday — meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, cake, soup;

Friday – tuna noodle casserole, mixed veggies, pudding, soup.

Activities

Monday — haircuts, 9 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — S.H.I.P., 9:30 a.m.; exercise class, 10:30 a.m., bridge, 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday — Humana, 9:30 a.m.; Nevada Eye and Ear Seminar, 10 a.m.; Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.,

Thursday — Infinity Hospice Seminar, 10 a.m.; exercise class, 10:30 a.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.;

Friday — So. Nevada Center for Independent Living, 10 a.m.; exercise class, 10:30 a.m., bridge, 12:30 p.m.

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of March 9 – March 13

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — turkey and cheese enchiladas, rice and beans, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, creamy pineapple dessert;

Tuesday — seasoned chicken tenders, ranch pasta salad (broccoli, carrots, cheese, ham, bell pepper), barbeque sauce, brownies;

Wednesday —Swiss steak and egg noodles, cauliflower bacon salad, dinner roll, birthday cake;

Thursday — grilled bratwurst, hot dog bun, sauerkraut, hot German potato salad, spiced applesauce;

Friday — French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and yogurt parfait, oatmeal.

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
