Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of: Oct. 26 – Oct. 30. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday — open-faced turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, green beans, cake, soup;

Tuesday — beef stew, dinner roll, peas and carrots, brownies, soup;

Wednesday — baked tuna stuffed tomato, Normandy veggies, pudding, soup;

Thursday — grilled ham and cheese sandwich, tomato basil soup, coleslaw, applesauce;

Friday – Swedish meatballs, broccoli, fruit cup, soup.

 

Activities

Monday — Haircuts, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; square dance class, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; Sheila Winn, End of Life Planning, 9 a.m. to noon; bridge, 12:30 p.m., bunco, 12:30 p.m.;

Wednesday — JK Nelson Law Services, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., for appt. call 727-5008; Humana open enrollment, 10 a.m.; Blind Support, 12:30 p.m.; Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.–3 p.m.; Old Men's Club breakfast, 7 a.m.–9 a.m.; Senior Dimensions open enrollment, 10 a.m.;

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Oct. 26 – Oct. 30

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — grilled ham and cheese sandwich, tater tots, steamed broccoli, creamy mushroom soup, fruit cup;

Tuesday — tacos, Spanish rice, corn, green chili soup, pears, banana pudding;

Wednesday —Hungarian goulash over spinach noodles, peas and carrots, green salad, whole wheat bread and peach butter, ambrosia;

Thursday — oven fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, mandarin orange, peanut butter cookie, colorful salad;

Friday — Nevada Day - closed.

 

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Oct. 26 – Oct. 30

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Monday — cheeseburger skillet, tossed salad, whole wheat roll, mixed fruit;

Tuesday — bean and cheese burrito, rice, chips and salsa, corn, pudding, cantaloupe;

Wednesday — chicken pasta toss, garlic toast, peach crisp;

Thursday — biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, cinnamon rolls, strawberries;

Friday — Nevada Day - closed.

Beatty burros are burdening town — officials aim to remove some members of massive herd

The Bullfrog Herd Management Area, which includes Beatty, is grossly overpopulated with wild burros. According to previously stated management goals, the population of the animals should be kept to around 80 burros, but it has far exceeded that number for years. The last time a gather was carried out, there were more than 800 burros, and the BLM removed more than 400, which was the capacity of the agency’s holding facilities.
