Man re-arrested twice while in jail

Christopher Biddy is having quite a run with the local law enforcement, most of it while in jail.

Already in custody at the Nye County Detention Center as part of the Operation Super Lake forgery and identity theft investigation, Biddy has been re-arrested twice in custody, the lasted coming Saturday after a fight in the jail yard.

Biddy was charged with battery by prisoner after a report of a fight occurring between two inmates in the yard area on March 31 at 4:23 p.m. According to the police report, Biddy was identified as the instigator of the fight.

On April 4, the victim, Todd Taylor, reportedly told deputies that while in the yard, Biddy had caused him to fall to the ground and black out. Deputies noted that Taylor refused to give specific details about the incident. Another witness reportedly told deputies that he saw Taylor “In Biddy’s face and Biddy shoulder checked Todd and pushed him.”

Deputies subsequently reviewed the surveillance cameras and were able to see Taylor fall backwards onto the ground. On the video, Biddy is seen lunging towards Taylor. Deputies also noted that there were several other times in the surveillance where the victim is seen pressing his shirt on the back of his head and wiping an area of his elbow after the fall.

Biddy admitted to hitting Taylor, pushing him back and causing Taylor to fall after giving the victim several warnings to get out of his face.

The altercation came four days after Biddy and another inmate, Virgle Sparks, were re-arrested on drug charges while incarcerated after deputies executed an early morning cell search where Biddy was housed.

Officers on the previous shift had been notified by other inmates that Sparks, while serving weekend jail sentences, had been smuggling drugs and paraphernalia into the jail. The contraband was later identified as heroin, pills and a lighter.

It was also reported that a lighter was seen being lit while smoke was seen coming from their cell.

A search of the cell yielded a pink lighter in Sparks’ possession, and a pink balloon inside the cell which was reported to have a fecal odor coming from it.

Biddy stated that he had taken the pills off the ground but did not know what they were but a urinalysis test revealed Biddy was positive for morphine.

Biddy was initially arrested March 7 as part of the Operation Super Lake and charged with conspiracy to commit forgery, conspiracy uttering forged instrument, conspiracy obtaining money under false pretenses, conspiracy possession of stolen property, conspiracy possession of credit or debit card without owner’s consent and conspiracy possession of identifying information of another for fraudulent purposes.
