Peace officer review board proposed

County commissioners will consider scheduling a hearing for a bill creating a peace officer advisory review board during a 10 a.m. meeting Tuesday.

Commissioners typically hold off on discussing a bill until the public hearing, the Tuesday agenda item is just to set the date, time and location. The board will also look at a request from county human resources to fill two vacant sheriff’s dispatch and one vacant deputy position. The five-year plan by the 911 advisory committee is up for approval.

In other business, commissioners will consider $250,000 in financing for Nye Regional Medical Center in Tonopah, out of a health endowment fund built up by the Payment Equal to Taxes from the Yucca Mountain project.

An outdoor festival license for the Pahrump Fair and Festival will be considered; it’s scheduled Sept. 25-28 at Petrack Park. In another related town item, commissioners will consider amending the Unincorporated Town Government Law to exclude the unincorporated towns of Amargosa Valley, Pahrump, Round Mountain and Tonopah.

An amendment to the Nye County Code on medical marijuana establishments pertaining to separation distance requirements is on the agenda. In a related item, commissioners will be considering zone changes for property owners for two applicants requesting special use permits for medical marijuana establishments: Champ Roach at 9680 S. Oakridge Ave. and Stephen Settlemeyer, 3171 E. Tillman St.

Dan Harris will request a minor master plan amendment to grow crops on 29.26 acres near Oakridge Avenue and Fuchsia Street. Four property owners want a master plan amendment change to low density residential 350 feet south of the intersection of Thousandaire Boulevard and Pahrump Valley Boulevard. Realtor Mary Greenspan is asking for a zone change from rural estates to neighborhood commercial for a one acre parcel on the corner of Basin Avenue and Lola Lane, near Desert View Hospital. Adan Salcido is appealing his denial of a conditional use permit for his commercial kennel at 2251 W. Blosser Ranch Rd. by the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission. Dorothy Hayes is requesting a zone change for 1.36 acres from rural estates to commercial manufacturing for her late father Bill Griffin’s auction business at 3221 E. Thousandaire Blvd.

The final Nevada Land Management Task Force report is up for approval. The task force was created by the 2013 state Legislature to look into transferring federal land to the state of Nevada.

A bill adopting procedures for the abatement of environmental nuisances on properties held by the treasurer’s trust will be scheduled for a hearing.

A subdivision map improvement agreement between Nye County and Adaven Management Inc., which has plans to build a Mountain Falls South just to the south of Manse Road, is up for approval.

A memorandum of agreement is up for approval with the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Federal Highway Administration to rebuild .8 miles of Main Street in Manhattan.

A resolution in support of recommendations of the Nevada Department of Transportation Interstate 11 study is up for approval, along with support for additional studies of extending I-11 north on Highway 95.
