Rainy weather headed toward Pahrump area for weekend

The weekend will bring chances of rain to southern and northern Nye County, with chances of precipitation around 40 percent for the southern part of the county and 80 percent for the north on Saturday morning.

The high for today will be 70 degrees and the low will be 52 degrees.

The National Weather Service said Pahrump should have an increase in wind as a system moves in on Friday.

“It will get breezy, with moderate winds coming in from the southwest with gusts up to 25 miles per hour,” National Weather Service meteorologist Alex Boothe said. “The chances of precipitation will remain for Nye County through Saturday with higher chances of precipitation on Saturday.”

He said the chances of rain will decrease after Saturday. The high for Saturday will be 67 degrees, with temperatures dropping down to 47 degrees during the night.

Sunday will be mostly sunny for Pahrump, with slim chances of rain and a high near 70 degrees and a low of 49.

For Monday through Wednesday, the weather for Pahrump will remain mostly sunny with breezy conditions and a few clouds. The highs will be near 67 degrees with the lows at night being near 47 degrees.

Boothe said at this time there are no winter advisories for the system moving in this weekend.

“There will be high gusts of wind in the mountain areas surrounding Pahrump up to 30 miles per hour,” he said.
