Letters to the editor, Sept. 14

A great memory on Highway 160

Sunday, Sept.11 I was driving Highway 160 from Pahrump toward Las Vegas.

At about 11 a.m., I was almost at the summit of the Mountain Springs Pass when a few yards off the highway to the left, I see a cowboy, quietly sitting on a horse. He was holding an American flag on its staff.

Sir, I don’t know who you are but thank you for giving me a memory I’ll have forever.

Sincerely,

Stuart Smith

Birthday party thank you to winery

Back in August I sent a letter giving kudos to Pahrump Valley Winery for my 80th birthday party. My sons from the Seattle, Washington area coordinated with the winery for a fairly large group to attend the party.

During the coordinated times some of the people to be attending had scheduling problems and the winery personnel handling the reservations were very accommodating with the changes.

The party was a great success and everyone attending had a great time. The food was excellent as were the service personnel.

I wish to thank the servers and the Marilyn Monroe singer for a wonderful birthday party.

KUDOS TO ALL!

Henry Hurlbut
