Moose Lodge hosts donation dinner in Pahrump

For close to 40 years, Pahrump Moose Lodge #808 has provided support to many local organizations and agencies within the community.

At present, the Moose Lodge is hoping the community will return the favor, as they host a donation dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturday, June 3. The lodge is at 1100 2nd St.Moose Community Service Chairman Jim Cornell said the lodge itself is in need of support. “Like many other fraternal and charitable organizations, we are experiencing difficult financial times,” Cornell said.

Over the years, the Moose Lodge has hosted fundraisers for various local charitable entities, including the Pahrump Lions Club, Nye County Search and Rescue, Special Olympics, Relay for Life and Food For Thought.Additionally, Pahrump’s Toys for Tots, the Nye County Homeless Student Activity Fund, and the Salvation Army have been beneficiaries of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Cornell said attendees can dine, socialize and enjoy great entertainment.

Raffle prizes are also part of the event.

“You will have a choice of chicken fingers or our famous chicken fried steak with all of the trimmings,” he said. “The Women of the Moose will be providing items for a scrumptious bake sale and there will be entertainment provided by Dean West and the Smoking Gun Band. We have a beautiful liquor basket and raffle tickets will be available that day as well as many other themed baskets that can be yours for the price of a raffle ticket.”

Cornell also noted that Moose lodges, internationally, strive to provide support for communities in need.

“Moose lodges in North America and Great Britain fully fund these endeavors,” he said. “Every conceivable need for our children and senior members is provided to them free of charge, due to the fundraising efforts of Moose lodges just like ours. You may not be aware but Moose International has been in existence since 1888. In 1913, Mooseheart was opened as a refuge for children in need. Nine years later, Moosehaven was opened as a retirement home to our senior members in Orange Park, Florida.”

Cornell stressed that any support from the community would be greatly appreciated on Saturday and beyond.

“Help from our own members and especially from the Pahrump community is vital to our existence,” he said. “We want to be able to continue our support of Mooseheart and Moosehaven and all of the other wonderful organizations and charities in our community, but without help, that would not be possible. We hope to see many current and new friends on June 3rd, from 4 to 7 p.m.”
