Tractor Supply Co. planning store for 4.5-acre site on Highway 372

Tractor Supply Co., the biggest chain of rural lifestyle stores in the United States, wants to open its first Southern Nevada store in Pahrump.

Greg Wall, senior project manager at Leading Tech Development, LLC, the development company behind the project, said Tractor Supply Co. identified Pahrump as the town where they want to open a store.

“They approached us after they identified Pahrump as the town where they would do well and asked us what parcels may be available,” Wall said.

A representative for Tractor Supply said the Brentwood, Tennessee-based retailer looks forward to providing the Pahrump store with expertise and advice for “life out there.”

“Pahrump is an ideal location for a Tractor Supply store because the new store will serve the lifestyle needs of a community that enjoys the rural lifestyle - including farmers, tradesmen, small business owners and more,” a representative said in a statement.

Tractor Supply Co. operates over 1,600 retail stores in 49 states, according to its website. It currently has two stores in Nevada in Carson City and Minden.

Tractor Supply Co.’s stores are typically located in rural communities and towns in outlying metropolitan areas, according to the company’s website.

Steve Osborne, Nye County principal planner, said the developer submitted a site development plan to the Nye County Planning Department. The plan is currently going through the county review process.

“Construction can begin after the SDP (site development plan) is approved and a building permit is issued. The store will be approximately 19,100 square feet,” Osborne said.

The Pahrump store is proposed to be located at 900 E. Highway 372. The 4.25-acre property is zoned general commercial.

Wall said the construction is expected to take about six months, but there are currently no hard deadlines.

“It really depends on approvals from the county. We hope to break ground in spring and open in the fall,” he said.

Leading Tech Development, LLC is a Perry, Utah-based development company that specializes in building retail stores in nine western states, including Nevada.

“We’re looking forward to the prospect of bringing a Tractor Supply store to the Pahrump community and appreciate the cordial reception we’ve received from the Nye County officials and staff that we’ve been working with during the approvals process,” Wall said.

Recently, Pahrump has seen an increased interest from major national retailers. Earlier this year, Jack in the Box announced that it will open its first Pahrump store in the summer.
