Horizon Market robbed at gunpoint, suspect sought

The early morning robbery of a local convenience store this week left the store clerk shaken but unharmed.

Nye County Sheriff’s Detective Eric Murphy said a man entered the Horizon Market, 2030 Bell Vista Ave., just after 1 a.m., Tuesday morning brandishing a shotgun.

“The suspect asked the clerk for the register money and then exited the building,” Murphy said.

“At this time, information is limited and the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office is requesting information from the public in reference to this incident.”

Murphy said though the clerk could not provide an accurate description of the suspect, detectives are reviewing surveillance video of the crime and were able to obtain several leads.

According to a Facebook post by a store clerk, the suspect is described as being about 5-foot, 10-inches, with a medium build but was covered with a mask, long sleeves and sweat pants.

It is also unclear whether the man fled the scene on foot or in a vehicle.

Anyone with information on a possible suspect in this case is urged to contact the Nye County Sheriff’s Office at 775-751-7000 or ncso_detectives@co.nye.nv.us.
