Two weekend festivals, Nevada Day and Halloween

Halloween and Nevada Day, what a combination. It seems as if everyone everywhere has something going on. Both Shoshone Old West Days and Beatty Days are set for this weekend. Today is a holiday celebrating Nevada’s 150th birthday and it’s also a night for ghosts goblins and parties.

The HUBB will feature a costume contest and live music from Van and the Mannequin Band will be from 8 p.m. to midnight, tonight. There will be prizes and giveaways.

Coyote’s Den will also have a costume contest for the scariest, sexiest and scariest zombie. There will be music and dancing beginning at “nightfall.”

Draft Picks will feature the music of Tom Saitta and Tommy Deering beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Music will return to Tuesday evenings starting Nov. 4.

The VFW will hold a Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 1.

The event will have lots of vendors of homemade crafts, direct sales, small businesses and more. They will have raffles every 15 minutes.

The artist’s reception for Pahrump glass artist Karla Ely is from 2 to 5 p.m., Nov. 2. The reception will also feature a Day of the Dead costume contest. The event is at Tecopa Hot Springs Resort. Pastel’s Bistro will be open.

The Valley Cruisers of Pahrump car club will caravan to Beatty for the Beatty Days celebration on Nov. 1. They will meet at Around the World Lodge on Highway 160 and Simkins at 7 a.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 10054 held auditions for the annual “Stars &Stripes USO Show Oct. 30 for the best local talent.

The show will be at 7 p.m., Nov. 15 in the Saddle West showroom. The event includes door prizes, singer, dancers and auctions. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Pahrump Moose Lodge #808 has joined forces with the Lions Club to make sure every child up to 14 years of age has a gift from Santa.

The community is being asked to help by attending a donation dinner on Nov. 9, at the Moose Lodge, located at 1100 E. Second Street. There will also be a bake sale and raffle.

Dinner is being served from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The menu will be chicken a la king over noodles, salad and roll.

All funds raised will go to the Lions Club Letters to Santa Project.

The artistic Divas and Dudes of Pahrump present its third annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Show on Nov. 7, from noon to 5 p.m., and Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Proceeds from the raffle will go to the local Ham Operators at ARES/RACES. The Pahrump Valley Lions Club will serve grilled lunch items.
