Tom Saitta at the HUBB and first Tecopa Takeover this weekend

Another busy weekend is in store for residents wanting to get out and about. It includes a new place to see Tom Saitta, an all-weekend music jam in Tecopa and a VFW Ladies Auxiliary fundraiser at Saddle West.

Tom Saitta and Tommy Deering have been playing at Draft Picks on Tuesday evenings, but this Friday, beginning at 6 p.m., “All That Jazz” will be at the HUBB on Bell Vista Road.

The Tuesday shows will continue at Draft Picks as well.

The “Stars &Stripes USO Show is set for 7 p.m., Nov. 15 in the Saddle West Showroom. The show features local talent, singing and dancing, door prizes and auctions.

Advance tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the VFW, the Chamber of Commerce, Pahrump Party Supply and Sunflower Fashions. Tickets will be $20 at the door.

The event supports VFW service programs.

The headliner for this weekend is a first for Tecopa Hot Springs Resort. The Las Vegas Jam Band Society (LVJBS) is bringing talent from Vegas for a two-day music festival.

Festivities include yoga with Natasha Bachman, a horseshoe tournament hosted by the LVJBS. Pastel’s Bistro will be open and the new Death Valley Brewery will be serving hand-crafted beer. The brewery is located just down the road where Hot Springs Road intersects with the Old Spanish Trail.

Other events at the resort include acoustic campfire sessions and the public is invited to bring instruments and participate.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the gate. Call 760-852-4420 for tickets, to reserve a camping spot or reserve a room at the resort. The bands will be MK Ultra Lite, The Funk Jam, Sara Patterson, DJ Mongo, Flux, Dirty Devils, The Signals, Tecopa All-Stars, Part-Time Criminals, Dr. Vibus, Donzo’s Cosmos and Pitchfork.

There will be drum circles led by J. Free and a “Silent Disco” with DJ Mongo.

The music will be from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14; and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday Nov. 15.

The writers of poetry and prose will hold a group meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 15 at Draft Picks on Highway 160. The public is welcome and it’s free.

KNYE Radio has a list of holiday events for the public.

The annual food drive for the Thanksgiving holiday is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smith’s Food &Drug. The event will benefit the food banks and the VFW veterans’ food bank.

This year’s community Christmas tree is an artificial specimen. The cost of live fir trees are expensive and have to be selected from Oregon, cut and shipped. With the new purchase of a sturdy artificial specimen, the cost becomes obsolete.

The location of the tree will be different this year as well. Previously, the tree was set up at Beverly Plaza in the area beside Saddle West. Jackson said this year, the tree will be erected at the intersection of highways 372 and 160 at Crawford Way.

Nov. 29, beginning at 10 a.m., residents and businesses may join the annual decorating party.

The Christmas tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. that evening with hot chocolate, cookies and carolers. Everyone is invited to attend.
