Valentine’s Day dance returns to Nugget with elegance

The Kiwanis Club’s special formal romance dance returns after a five-year absence.

Tickets are going fast for tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day Dance courtesy of the club’s Pahrump chapter.

The formal event is taking place at the Pahrump Nugget Events Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Kiwanis President Reva Braun said tomorrow’s fundraising dance will be the first in five years for the organization.

“We stopped doing it and went with the comedy shows,” she said. “They have done little Valentine’s Day dances at the Maverick, but this is the first time we decided to try and go formal and big again.”

The dance includes dinner, a silent auction and raffles.

Braun said proceeds from the dance are used to fund another Kiwanis sponsored program.

“They go directly to fund our Kiwanis Scholarship Program,” she said. “We need to help send our high school seniors to college. A lot of them don’t have the money or they don’t even know where to look for money.”

Tickets for the event are available at the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce at $60 per person or $100 a couple.
