Chamber’s annual Biz Expo is today and Saturday

The area’s largest gathering of businesses is being held this weekend at the Pahrump Nugget Convention Center.

The Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 17th annual Biz Expo starts today at noon and runs until 5 p.m. It reopens Saturday at 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Titled “Inspire, Develop, Promote,” approximately 65 vendors, including the Pahrump Valley Times, will be on hand to discuss their business and interact with the community.

Aiming to acquaint local business owners with the public, the goal is to not only let consumers know where these businesses are located, but also what products they have to offer.

Chamber Chief Executive Officer Salli Kerr said that the expo is a big hit each year, drawing in large crowds.

“Our community loves this event,” Kerr said. “We get people visiting by the thousands.”

The expo is held to showcase the chamber member businesses, so only those who are members of the Chamber of Commerce are allowed to participate as vendors.

“We’re always happy to bring those businesses in, and let the community see literally the gamut of what the town has to offer,” Kerr said.

Those in attendance will have a chance at winning donated items from each vendor in raffles held throughout both days. Each person that walks through the convention center’s doors will receive one ticket eligible for the drawings.

In addition to the indoor exhibits, Kerr said that she is working on getting some outdoor ones involved as well. Nurseries and displaying new cars from local automobile dealers are some of the offerings that are being worked on to take place outside of the convention center.

The event is sponsored by the Chamber, Valley Electric Association, Wells Fargo, Desert View Hospital, Saitta Trudeau, Nevada State Bank, and Pahrump Nugget owner Golden Casino Group Pahrump.
