Beatty Town Advisory Board needs to fill two seats

An informal election will be held at the beginning of the Beatty Town Advisory Board's Nov. 9 meeting to fill two seats on the board.

Members of the board are not elected directly, but are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The election determines whose names will be submitted to the commissioners for appointment.

The last time seats came up for reappointment the only people expressing interest were the incumbents, so no election was necessary.

This time board members Erika Gerling and Randy Reed, whose terms are expiring, will be on the ballot along with Teresa Sullivan.

Reed and Gerling have been very active on the board, with Gerling serving for some time as the board's treasurer.

Sullivan, the wife of Justice of the Peace Gus Sullivan, is the counselor at Beatty High School.

Town secretary Carrie Radomsky is looking for people to help with the election, carrying out such tasks as handing out and collecting ballots and tabulating the results. She is hoping for 10 volunteers.

Residents must attend the Nov. 9 meeting in order to vote, and the ballots will be counted and the results announced that night.
