Silver Tappers give praise to young volunteers
On behalf of B.J. Hetrick-Irwin and the Nevada Silver Tappers, we would like to share a very positive experience we had.
Recently, we were asked to perform at the Awards Celebration and Luncheon that was held for the volunteers in Nye County.
The audience was absolutely terrific and the young ladies and young men were the finest we have had the opportunity to be around.
They were kind, joyful, and professional and it was honor to be in such company.
What we usually hear is always so negative about our young folks. We thought your readers might like to hear something positive and they should all be commended.

Reader endorses congressional candidate Kihuen
From 2013 to 2015, I had the honor of working for Congressman Steven Horsford. I made many friends in Nye County while working on issues like resolving the land status of the towns of Goldpoint and Ione, the replacement of a water system in Trout Canyon, and the construction of a VA Clinic in Pahrump.
There are too many people to count running for Congressman Horsford’s old seat in Congress, but one stands above the rest: State Senator Ruben Kihuen.
Senator Kihuen has traveled to the far reaches of the sprawling district - he even had lunch in Mina, where I used to live. But more importantly, Senator Kihuen has a record of using his time in public office to benefit the public, not to check off a box on a bucket list or to benefit himself.
During the last legislative session, Senator Kihuen worked on a bill that established the Silver State Opportunity Grant, a program which helps working-class rural Nevadans afford Community College.
Senator Kihuen’s record of listening to and fighting for rural and working-class Nevadans is unparalleled among the candidates for the 4th District congressional seat. I strongly urge my friends in Nye County to vote for Senator Kihuen in the primary.
Sincerely,
Michael Guss
