Senior trip heads for Grand Canyon
The Pahrump Senior Center is hosting another getaway for the senior crowd.
Transportation Manager Don McIntosh has arranged for a luxury bus trip to the Grand Canyon. Participants will leave the upper parking lot of Draft Picks, the former Wulfy’s, at 9 a.m. Oct. 24 and head for historic Williams, Ariz. where passengers will have a chance to shop.
Participants will travel along parts of Route 66 through the mountains of Interstate 40 to an elevation of 8,000 feet.
Hotel accommodations will be at the Best Western in Tusayan, Ariz., a small town encompassing only 144 square miles. It does, however, have an IMAX Theater.
Tusayan’s main business is tourism so there are plenty of restaurants and gift or souvenir shops available for dinner and shopping.
After resting Friday night, the tour will leave the Best Western parking lot at 9 a.m. and head for the Grand Canyon for a day of sightseeing.
Guests will head for home at 11 a.m. Oct. 26.
Tickets include a free breakfast each morning at the hotel. All other meals are the passenger’s responsibility.
The price is $200 per person for double occupancy and $250 for single occupancy.
A deposit of $50 is required per reservation with the balance due no later than 3 p.m. Oct. 18.
For reservations and more information call 751-6860 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
