Curves offers workouts to support breast cancer research
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in keeping with it, the local Curves for Women at 301 S. Oxbow Ave., Suite 9, is offering to donate $10 to breast cancer research for every punch card it sells.
The good thing — there are no strings attached, other than being a woman.
Owner Laura Lilly said, “You don’t have to be a member and you don’t have to purchase a membership. This is for every woman who wants to participate.” She said participants will need to fill out a health questionnaire.
Here’s how it works. Curves is known for its 30-minute workout which exercises the whole body. Those exercises also help improve heart health with strength training and cardio response to the workout.
Anyone can go into Curves and purchase a punch card for $10, which entitles the cardholder to 10 workouts between now and Nov. 15. All of the proceeds go to research.
Lilly said people who have already purchased cards give reasons such as in remembrance of a friend or loved one who lost the battle with breast cancer, or in support of someone battling the disease now.
There is also a poster hanging at the gym for those people in the punch card program to sign in a show of support.
Curves is the largest fitness chain for women in the world and a leader in weight management. Its mission is to strengthen women and this is a fun way to get involved, support a good cause and learn the importance of regular exercise.
