Weather: Pleasant weekend expected before breezy start to week

Pleasant weather is expected for the valley this weekend, before a gusty start to the week blows into town.

The National Weather Service said that high temperatures for the next three days would be 97 degrees today, 99 degrees Saturday and 96 on Sunday.

After the sunny, relatively calm weekend, the weather kicks up as the work week starts.

“We got a low coming in that will pick up the wind Monday and persist into Tuesday,” said Stan Czyzyk, National Weather Service meteorologist. “The winds will be between 20 and 30 mph; then that low pushes off to the northeast on Wednesday.”

When the low moves out of the area, cooler temperatures will come into town behind it.

“That’s why the lowest temperatures of the period will be at the end there, as that low is pushed through,” he said.

The high temperature on both Tuesday and Wednesday will be 86 degrees, 13 degrees lower than the high on Saturday.

Overnight lows will dip down to the mid-to-low 60s Tuesday through Thursday.

The high temperature will begin to rebound a bit Thursday, with an expected high of around 91 degrees.
