BLM will meet in Pahrump to discuss various issues
The Bureau of Land Management will meet in Pahrump this month with the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council to discuss public lands issues.
Discussion items will include target shooting on public lands, a possible recreation fee increase at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and wild horses, according to the press release.
The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Nye County Commission Chambers, 2100 East Walt Williams Drive. A public comment period is scheduled at 11:45 a.m.
The advisory council advises and makes recommendations to the BLM on public land management.
The Federal Land Policy and Management Act directs the Secretary of the Interior to involve the public in planning and discussion of issues related to management of BLM-administered public lands.
The Mojave-Southern Great Basin RAC is one of three such councils in Nevada that accommodate a community participation directive.
The council has representatives from commercial and non-commercial users including environmental, livestock, mining, Native American, and wild horse and burro interests, elected officials and state agencies.
The public is encouraged to attend and provide comment. Written comments can be submitted to the RAC Coordinator, Chris Hanefeld at the Ely District Office, 702 North Industrial Way, Ely, NV 89301.
