Fall starts off cool today, warms up for weekend

The first day of Autumn blew in Thursday and behind it the temperatures will feel fall-like today, before warming up this weekend.

Today’s high is not expected to eclipse the 80-degree mark, as the National Weather Service said 79 degrees will be as hot as the valley gets today.

The overnight low will dip into the 50s tonight, so Fall Festival-goers should dress appropriately, to ensure they’re comfortable and ready to enjoy the kickoff to the three-day event.

Besides the brief cool-off, temperatures and weather over the next week are expected to be normal and nothing noteworthy.

“Not really expecting much in the way of weather over the next seven days,” said Nathan Foster, National Weather Service meteorologist. “Yesterday we saw the worst of the wind, with temperatures a little above once we start to warm up going into the weekend.”

As the Fall Festival “We Are America” parade kicks off Saturday morning on Highway 160, temperatures will be in the lower-to-mid-60s, so those planning on attending the event should wear a light jacket.
