Desert View Hospital offering $75 mammograms during October
The best way to beat cancer is to prevent it altogether or to catch the disease early, so Desert View Hospital has a special deal for Pahrump residents who do not have insurance.
The hospital is offering $75 mammogram screenings every weekday in October. A physician’s order is required for patients to receive the mammogram.
In addition to the discounted price for non-insured patients, all women who receive a mammogram until Oct. 31 will receive a breast cancer-related tumbler while supplies last. Also, those patients will be entered into a drawing where they can win a picnic cooler gift basket full of goods.
DVH mammography technicians perform around 150 mammograms monthly, using the community’s only digital mammography equipment.
“Digital mammography offers a superior imaging quality compared to film, which makes it easier for the radiologists to find abnormalities,” said Angela Losonsky, imaging director at Desert View Hospital.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, outside of skin cancers, according to the American Cancer Society.
An estimated 12 percent of women in the United States (about one in eight) will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their life. Regular mammograms can reduce the risk by helping spot abnormalities before they become cancerous or spread further in the body.
