Valley Communications: Broadband maintenance set for early June in Pahrump

Valley Communications Association plans to conduct a scheduled software upgrade in early June on their wireless network, it said.

Members can anticipate an outage lasting approximately 30 to 90 minutes between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., Valley Communications said in a news release.

Plans call for broadband customers in north Pahrump – near West Basin Avenue and South Blagg Road – to be affected on June 2 the release said. Customers in southeast Pahrump (Artesia and Mountain Falls) will be affected the following week, likely on June 8, it said.

Though the upgrades are scheduled at different times and dates, broadband customers should only experience one brief outage, said Nate Johnson, interim executive vice president of broadband and IT communications, in a statement.

The network improvements will allow VCA to deliver Internet television service (IPTV) and other digital services. The TV service is expected to be available to current broadband customers by mid-summer.

“By performing these important upgrades during the early morning hours, we hope that the fewest number of customers will be inconvenienced,” Johnson said. “The upgrades will provide VCA customers with options when shopping for cable or satellite services from a trusted local source, Valley Electric Association, which is member-owned.”

Valley Communications Association is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Valley Electric Association Inc., (VEA) a nonprofit electric utility headquartered in Pahrump.
