Nye approves memorandum with Central Nevada Historical Society

Nye County approved a memorandum of understanding with the Central Nevada Historical Society that authorized the payment of tax receipts for the operation of the Central Nevada Museum and for Nye County to perform employment services for historical society employees.

Nye County pays a portion of the tax receipts levied to the historical society for the general operation and improvements of the museum.

The approved memorandum of understanding will allow Nye County to support the operations of the Central Nevada Museum in Tonopah by providing administrative services needed due to the lack of resources available to the Central Nevada Historical Society, the documents said.

The Central Nevada Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the history of Nye and Esmeralda counties through various displays and research library, according to its website and is a Nevada domestic nonprofit corporation.

It approved the memorandum at the June 13 meeting.
