Semi-truck, UPS tractor-trailer collide, killing 1 in rural Nevada

A semi and a UPS truck collided along U.S. Highway 6 near Tonopah, killing a motorist, authorities said.

The fatal crash between the big rig and the UPS tractor-trailer truck occurred the morning of July 20 about 30 miles north and west of Tonopah, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The semi-truck driver was confirmed dead at the scene in the mid-morning crash in Esmeralda County, according to the Twitter account of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Northern Command.

The names of the drivers were not immediately known, along with circumstances leading to the crash.

An investigation was underway.

NHP Northern Command closed U.S. 6 to traffic in both directions just before 11:30 a.m. on July 20. A detour was put into place.
