Nye County sends 10 teams to postseason play

This fall postseason, three Nye County high schools are sending teams to the playoffs.

Pahrump Valley High School sent five sports to postseason competition. Beatty will send football and volleyball and Tonopah will send two teams, football and volleyball.

Pahrump’s girls golf team already completed state and finished in third place. The Trojans will send the volleyball team, the football team, the cross-country team and the girls soccer team. The Trojans golf team finished third at state.

The Trojans volleyball team is the number one seed and Sunset League Champions. They played on Tuesday against Tech, the fourth-place seed from the Sunrise League. If they won they will play on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Sunrise Mountain High School. The regional championship will be at Sunrise Mountain High School on Saturday, check niaa.com for times.

The football team finished as the fourth-seed team and will play at 7 p.m. in Mesquite against Virgin Valley, the first place seeded team of the Sunrise League. If they win they will play next Friday at the winner of the Mojave vs. Chaparral game.

The boys and girls cross-country team travels to Sparks for the Class 3A Nevada Cross-Country Championship meet at the Shadow Mountain Regional Sports Complex. (See cross-country sports story).

The Trojans girls soccer team will play Virgin Valley at 4 p.m. at Betty Wilson Park on Wednesday on field one, if they win they will play the winner of Tech vs. Western game on Friday at 4 p.m. on field 8. The regional championship will be on Saturday.

Tonopah girls volleyball will go to the Class 1A Southern regional tourney as the second-seed team and will have a bye and play the winner of the Indian Springs and Beatty at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday at Sunrise Mountain High School.

Tonopah football will go as the Class 1A fourth seed and play at 7 p.m. on Friday on the road at Alamo against Pahranagat Valley the number one seed.

Beatty volleyball is the number three seed in the Class 1A Southern and will play Indian Springs, the number six seed at home at 5 p.m. today.

Beatty football is the number three seed in the Class 1A Southern and will play Spring Mountain the number two seed team at 1 p.m. on Friday on the road.
