Golden Casino Group takes the lead

The Golden Casino Group became the largest employer in Pahrump when Golden Gaming purchased the Terrible Herbst property on Highway 160 and the Lakeside property on Homestead Road two years ago.

With over 500 total “team members,” there are 12 who have been with the properties for 13 years, 25 are 10-year employees and 70 have spent 7 years being employed by the casinos, restaurants or the hotel at the Pahrump Nugget.

Vice President and General Manager Jeremy Jenson and the Human Resources Department have an open-door policy for all team members.

The company’s mantra is “See it. Own it. Do it.”

Motivating team members to critically think through daily situations and be proactive in taking the right steps to resolve issues is important to and make the guest experience the best.

Golden Casino Group listed several incentive programs to initiate better performance from its employees.

Some of the programs include “Ram Rewards,” where a member of management that sees a team member going above and beyond can reward the employee with a “Ram Buck.”

Ram bucks can be redeemed for LCD TVs, iPads, iTunes gift cards, movie gift cards, Walmart gift cards, paid time off, Visa gift cards and other items.

“We have a great, diverse group of team members with a sense of ownership and pride that is second to none,” said Jenson.

Team member of the month is awarded to one employee nominated by management for doing an outstanding job and voted on by all management. Team member of the month receives $500 and is entered for Team Member of the Year who receives $10,000.

Throughout the year the human resources team hosts contests between the team members for prizes; jack-o-lantern carving, Easter egg decorating, bingo, etc.

During the holiday season, management randomly selects team members to receive food baskets to take home and enjoy with their families.

Each year GCG hosts the Team member poker tournament, a holiday party and picnic, and offers employees insurance, benefits and vacation.

As a contribution to the community, the three properties host Angel trees for guests and team members to get involved in help for the less fortunate.

The Pahrump Nugget has hosted Veterans Day memorials, safe night for kids on Halloween and “Summer Celebration” on July 4th weekend. Lakeside RV & Casino hosts concerts by the lake and other events for the community.

GCG has also partnered with several businesses to offer a 10 percent discount when shopping with those partners.

Guests can show their player’s card for a discount at A Touch of Gold Hair Salon, Anytime Fitness, Big O Tires, Great Lengths Salon and Spa, Massage by Tina, Pahrump Valley Roasters and Saitta-Trudeau Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge.
