Trojans Wrestling: Eight veterans of state tourney return to team

Last year was a great year for the Trojans wrestling team, for they sent 11 wrestlers to the state tourney. Most of those wrestlers will be returning this year and so the Trojans are looking forward to a promising year.

Many senior citizens in Pahrump are chastised for their slow driving in the valley. Russ Wilson is 86 and definitely not one of those drivers. Wilson races at the Pahrump Valley Speedway and is the oldest driver on the track at 86 years old.

The 2014 World Powerlifting Championships were held on Nov. 23 at Ballys in Las Vegas. The meet attracted 619 lifters from all over the world.

Beatty hoopsters warming up for the season

Joe Serrano, last year’s Beatty boys basketball coach, won’t be returning this season. Steve Sullivan, former girls basketball coach and volleyball coach, will be the new head coach. Beatty Athletic Director Bryson Moore said Serrano is moving on to better things. Under Serrano the team was 4-10 overall.

The PVTBC will hold a Certified Snakebite/10 Pin/No Tap Singles Turkey Shoot Tournament, with handicap, on Nov. 22 at the Pahrump Nugget. This tournament will be sponsored by Nevada Treasure RV Resort.
