Petrack Park came alive last weekend with the annual Pahrump Inter-Tribal Social Powwow.
The weather wasn’t the best for the 15th annual event, but the colorful displays of Native American culture managed to attract a crowd of about 1,000 over the two-and-a-half day event.
Organizer Paula Elefante said about 28 vendors, some from as far away as Wyoming and New Mexico, were on hand with original crafts on display and for sale.
The highlight of the powwow, of course, were the traditional dances, with dancers adorned in elaborate Native American dress.
Elefante and her team of about seven organizers are already planning for next year’s event.
The powwow is a Pahrump mainstay, scheduled each year during the weekend before Thanksgiving.
