Donna Lamm’s dance studio performs recital
Donna’s Studio of Dance performed their 36th annual spring recital May 1 and 2 at Pahrump Valley High School.
The presentation was by dancers of all ages. Many manners of artistic expression were demonstrated, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tumbling, tap, Indian, and clogging.
According to Donna Lamm, the energy and enthusiasm of the students shined throughout the show and the teachers did a great job with selecting colorful sparkling costumes and age appropriate choreography for each performance.
Donna Lamm’s dance classes have been enriching Pahrump culture since 1979. Donna studied ballet and modern dance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under the instruction of Vassili Sulich, founder of the Nevada Dance Theater.
She was also a member of the first performing troupe of the UNLV Contemporary Dance Theater.
Director Kathy Eason’s attention to detail and love of dance and dancers have guided the studio through the years.
Kathy began her dance career at the age of 6 at Fishback Studio of the Dance in Albuquerque, NM.
In high school Kathy became a dance teachers’ assistant and earned the privilege to teach after extensive years of Cecchetti student and teacher exams in ballet grades 1-5.
During her summer college years she spent time at dance conventions in Chicago, New York and Denver. Kathy also taught tap in an outreach program for low-income families in Albuquerque.
Together they have taught generations of Pahrumpians, encouraging many talented young students as they grow up to continue with the studio as instructors and assistants.
“It is my hope that dance instills a sense of confidence in our students that goes well beyond performing in recitals, a sense of belonging to a team and a community, and a sense of well-being which will promote a healthy lifestyle,” Lamm said.
